How to check if your Mi Power Bank is Genuine or Fake

Depending on the company manufacturing the fakes, there can be some cases where it works similarly to the genuine one, but it will surely fail most of the following tests.
Sticker with 20-digit Code on Packaging

This is the first and easiest step to check if the power bank is genuine. There would only be a very rare case where a fake Power Bank passes this test.

Genuine - Majority of the genuine Mi power banks sold in China come with a sticker on the packaging which can be scratched off to reveal a 20-digit code. Entering the code on the Xiaomi website would confirm the genuine product. However, the power banks sold outside of China via official channels will not carry this sticker.

Your product packaging will not contain the 20-digit code. It is still genuine though as it passes the remainder of the tests.

Fake
Fake Power Bank will usually not include any such sticker on the packaging, confirming that it is fake. Even if it carries one, it will fail the genuinity test on the Xiaomi website.

Genuine
The MicroUSB cable included with genuine Mi Power Banks does NOT carry any Mi branding. If you see one with Mi printed on it, it is a fake. The genuine cable also has a black interior in the standard USB port.



Branding and Color on USB Cable


Fake 
Fake Power Banks usually ship with a MicroUSB Cable which has Mi printed on it. Many of us would take this as a sign of genuine product and apparently that’s what these fake sellers want to achieve by printing Mi on the USB cable. Fake ones also have a white interior of the standard USB port.  

Pass-through Charging
Genuine
The original Mi Power bank supports pass-through charging. What it means that the power bank will also charge a mobile phone connected to it while it itself is being charged. Only necessity is that the input charger must supply enough power and as such, charging via a PC’s USB Port will not help.


Fake
The fake power bank does not have this capability and it will just charge itself and won’t pass on any current to the mobile phone connected to it. It will only charge the mobile when you disconnect the charger from the power bank.
Color of USB Ports on the Power Bank


GenuineThe front visible part of both the Micro USB and standard USB port have a rice white color.




Fake
Most of the fake power banks have a milk white color on the Standard USB port and a Black color on the Micro USB port.


Branding on the Standard USB Port

Genuine
Genuine power bank carries a small MI branding on the chassis of the standard USB port on the power bank. It is pretty small, but is easily visible while looking under natural lightning.

FakeFakes do not carry any such branding.


Printing at the Bottom

Genuine Has a printing in greyish ink which is lighter and clear. It is also well textured which can be felt by moving the fingers over it.


Fake
Usually darker and blurry in black ink and sometimes unclear printing.

LED Lights Function when Using

Genuine
While charging, holding the power button will turn off all the LED lights and they light up when the button is released.


Fake
No effect on pressing the power button while charging.

BEWARE! Ransomware attacked some Android users


A security firm recently reported it has found the first confirmed case of Ransomware that encrypts files saved on android devices' SD card.

ESET - report that the Trojan called Simplelocker targets SD cards inserted into tablets and handsets. the program will encrypt certain types of files (.jpg .gif .mkv .mp4 .dox) saved onto SD cards and demand cash to decrypt them. the message is in Russian, and payment us requested in Ukrainian currency. 

Porn alert


Slovakia-based Eset said affected device owners were presented with a message saying that their phone was locked because they had viewed and distributed child pornography , zoophilia and other perversions. 
Simplelocker Alert

The alert goes on to instruct the victims to pay 260 hryvnias ($22, £13) via the Ukrainian MoneXy cash transfer system. " After payment your device will be unlocked within 24 hours. In case of no PAYMENT YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA ON your device!" it added.

They added that information about the infected device would also be uploaded to the server computer used by the cyber-thieves, potentially to help them ensure the right data was decrypted when a payment was received.

However experts are having hard time tracing them because servers are hosted on a hidden part of the internet called Tor.


Prevention

Security researcher Robert Lipovsky said that the implementation of this  ransomeware is a work in-progress and doesn't come to close to "the infamous Cryptolocker" on Windows . Nevertheless, the malware is fully capable of encrypting the user's files, which may be lost if the encryption key is not retrieved.

Experts advised  everyone to be careful on downloading apps (and watching porn too) from third party websites rather than by Google own store. .

Most people tend to get aggravated when their PC is running slow particularly in times that you really need to wrap up something. some people doesn't know that Random Access Memory (RAM) in a computer plays a major role on how fast and smooth the PC can run an application. basically, RAM's main task is to speed up all processing requested by the user.


When this instance happen and you feel kicking your PC because of how slow it is. pause and grab your Flash drive and use it as a RAM!.


Although this process is not as effective as the real "RAM" can do. this should be a great and easy to do alternative when time comes that you feel speeding up things. and you can't afford to immediately head to a computer store to buy a new expensive RAM.

How to use USB Drive as RAM in Windows XP 
Follow below steps to use USB drive as RAM on Windows XP.

Step 1: Insert your USB Drive

Step 2: Right Click on “My Computer“

Step 3: Click on “Advance Tab“

Step 4: Now in performance click on “Settings“

Step 5: Now click on “Advance” and then on “change“

Step 6: Now select your USB drive, that you want to use as RAM

Step 7: After selecting your USB drive, click on “Custom size“

Step 8: click on “set“button and click on” OK“

Now restart your PC and you are ready to use USB Drive as RAM in your Windows XP PC.

 NOTE: When removing your Flash Drive make sure to "Safely Remove" it. to avoid damages.




How to Use USB Drive as RAM in Windows 7 & Windows 8
The follow this steps to use USB drive as RAM on Windows 7 and 8.

Step 1: Insert your USB Drive

Step 2: Format it

Step 3: After formatting it, right-click on your USB drive

Step 4: Select “Properties”

Step 5: Click on “ReadyBoost tab”

Step 6: Now click on “use this device”

Step 7: Now move the slider to the maximum size

Step 8: Click “OK” and “Apply”

An Earth-like planet? Bizarre!  


NASA's Kepler spacecraft discovered first Earth-size planet in the habitable zone of another star. The artist's concept depicts Kepler-186f  (image above), this is the first validated Earth-size planet to orbit a distant star in the habitable zone—a range of distance from a star where liquid water might pool on the planet's surface. 

The discovery of Kepler-186f confirms that Earth-size planets exist in the habitable zones of other stars and signals a significant step closer to finding a world similar to Earth.

The size of Kepler-186f is known to be less than ten percent larger than Earth, but its mass, density and composition are not known. Previous research suggests it's likely rocky. Kepler-186f orbits its star once every 130 days and receives one-third the energy that Earth does from the sun, placing it near the outer edge of the habitable zone. If you could stand on the surface of Kepler-186f, the brightness of its star at high noon would appear as bright as our sun is about an hour before sunset on Earth. Kepler-186f is about 500 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus. The system is also home to four inner planets, seen lined up in orbit around a host star that is half the size and mass of the sun.

How to Install Android On Windows PC


This tutorial is intended for Installing Android ICS 4.0.3 on Virtual Box. 
Can be installed in any computer that has VB installed in it. (Windows, Mac, Linux)



Getting started



1. To start download (click) Android ICS 4.0.3  from this direct link and unzip the files on your desktop.











 2.  Now Download and Install Oracle VirtualBox on your computer. Then Launch Virtual Box.










3. . On virtual box click on File -> Import Appliance.










 4. At the Import Virtual Appliance click on the mini folder to browse and select the the downloaded .ofv file. select it and click on open.












 

 5. After selecting the file, click on Next.

 

6. Configure the virtual machine settings, when you’re done click on Import.















7. After importing is completed you can Start your new virtual machine.














8. Restart Virtual Machine,  It should boot up on Android ICS you just installed. Unlock it !








9. Lastly, Have fun installing and playing any android apps on your Android virtual machine!




















On March 26 2014 Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg Announced that they will acquire Oculus Rift.

Oculus Rift is the leading company working on making the best Virtual Reality headset. which when you put it on, you enter a completely immersive computer-generated environment, like a game or a movie scene or a place far away. launched on kickstarter roughly 2-3 years ago, the interest and expectation is really high and just recently Facebook agreed to acquire the company. which was a nice move for both parties.Facebook's wealth + Oculus technology would really change the entertainment as we know it.

The first thought I had was what if "NASA will do a Pay-per-view" on their next exploration in space and everyone that has a VR can see
(360 degrees)  what their astronaut or space craft can see? or a mountaineer sending live feed while hiking Mt. Everest?  right now it's still sounds science fiction it has never been done before, but my hopes is so high about it...
